Plumbers use Aquastrap when installing shower trays and baths. This product functions as a durable seal for movement joints, remaining entirely concealed behind the sidewall of the tray/bath and the wall tiles once the installation is complete.

Aquastrap is composed of an EPDM upstand strip that is affixed to a butyl adhesive bed. A neoprene backer rod is bonded to the upper edge of the butyl adhesive bed, and a polyethene isolating membrane is bonded to the EPDM upstand strip above and behind the neoprene backer rod.

Once installed, the backer rod creates a compression seal between the silicone used for the tile/ledge and the adhesive bed, effectively preventing butyl-reactive silicones from coming into contact with the butyl adhesive. The polyethene isolation membrane acts as a bond-breaker, preventing EPDM-reactive silicones from engaging with the EPDM upstand strip.
